Tinnitus – What are the Causes?

One of the most common problems that can affect hearing is tinnitus. Tinnitus is the experience of hearing ringing or high pitched noises, even no actual sound is present. It is thought that as many as 20% of Australians are suffering from Tinnitus in some form.

Tinnitus is a symptom and not an actual condition. There are several conditions that can bring on an episode of Tinnitus. The causes of Tinnitus can be based in the ear or in the brain

Tinnitus caused by Loud Noises and Trauma

Constant exposure to loud noises can increase the likelihood of developing tinnitus. Construction workers, farmers and anyone that works in loud conditions are at risk. Tinnitus can also occur after a loud noise that is a one off. For instance, the loud sound of a collision in an accident, or attending a rock concert and having seats near the speakers can cause ringing in the ears for some time afterwards. This kind of tinnitus will often decrease in time.

Tinnitus caused by Problems in the Ear

There are several conditions in the ear of which Tinnitus is a symptom. The middle ear is made up of three small bones, the vibrations that make up a sound wave stimulate these bones as an important part of the hearing process. Over time these bones can start to wear and become damaged. The symptoms of this degeneration can include hearing loss as well as tinnitus.

A problem known as otosclerosis occurs when the stirrup bone, one the mentioned middle ear bones, becomes misshapen or overgrown. It is not known what causes this to happen, but the condition is most common in women aged between 15 and 30. Often pregnancy is a common factor. Otosclerosis can cause Tinnitus and also hearing loss.

Other Causes of Tinnitus

Meniere’s disease is a leading cause of Tinnitus. This illness causes a duct within the middle ear to swell during the early states of the disease. Tinnitus, vertigo, dizziness and nausea are common symptoms of early Meiere’s disease.

Sometimes the cause of tinnitus is not a physical problem, but a mental one. A stressful lifestyle or a traumatic experience can also instigate episodes of Tinnitus. Treating the cause of the anxiety or stress can often cause this to decrease.

Some drugs, both illegal and prescription can cause tinnitus as a side effect.

Tinnitus Solutions

As there is no single cause of tinnitus there is no single cure. Instead there are a range of solutions that can decrease or help you be rid of tinnitus completely. Many people do not seek treatment for their tinnitus because they assume that there is nothing that can be done, however seeing your doctor or audiologist is essential as there is help available.

Tinnitus Perth

Do you often hear ringing in your ears, or a high pitched noise and are concerned that the annoyance won’t ever go away?

For years, I felt the same way until I found a cure for my tinnitus and hearing loss.

When I reached my mid forties, I began to notice a high pitched noise that would fade in and out. Initially, the noise was quite faint so I didn’t consider it a significant problem and naively assumed that it would go away on its’ own.

However, after a couple of years… the high pitched noise became much more noticeable and was having a negative impact on my everyday life. Eventually, I couldn’t even enjoy TV unless the volume was turned up to a high level.

At times, I wasn’t able to comfortably talk on the phone without being distracted by the buzzing noise and hearing loss.

Ultimately, I decided the noise was not going to go away on its own so I visited an ear specialist. When I visited the doctor, I was shocked to hear that I was suffering from an infliction known as tinnitus.

According to my doctor, tinnitus is a very common for people of my age. She said that over 20% of people between the ages of 50 and 65 (baby boomers) suffer from some form of tinnitus and hearing loss.

Also, she said that the main causes of tinnitus are prolonged exposure to loud noises, various neurological disorders, and some metabolic disorders. The real shocker she told me was that certain prescription medications can actually cause “tinnitus and hearing loss” as potential side effects.

How scary is that?

We discussed my treatment options, but I was afraid of the intense surgical procedures that she recommended for me. Instead, I went on prescription meds for several months, which didn’t solve my hearing problems and oftentimes made me sick.

After realizing that prescription drugs weren’t the answer for me, I decided to search for some alternative treatments and therapies.

After doing some serious digging online, I eventually found a holistic tinnitus and hearing loss guide that offers proven solutions that very few tinnitus sufferers know about.

Amazingly, many of the practical tips and methods outlined in this 250+ page eBook actually worked for me almost immediately. After just a couple of months of following the program, I was able to put an end to my suffering and cure my tinnitus and hearing loss inflictions.

Be sure to learn how to treat your tinnitus and hearing loss conditions as soon as possible because the effects of tinnitus can become permanent and worsen if left untreated.
